Greetings, I’m Adowa Koren DeJean-Lynch

I’m African British Caribbean, born and raised in London and Essex in the UK. My journey started during the COVID lockdown when I was visiting Ghana. I needed fresh vegetables, so I began growing microgreens for myself. While there, I had a powerful spiritual vision about Africa and knew I had to bring this work to Rwanda.

I’ve been in Rwanda for over three and a half years now, building awareness around microgreens and sustainable farming. We became the first company to serve microgreens to the UK royal family and African officials during CHOGM, and the first to supply five-star hotels in Kigali.

I’ve had the honour of speaking at international events like the AGRF and was invited by ABSA Bank in Kenya to showcase the BEEyond Honey collection. I also worked with ICIEP in Kenya as a guest consultant on bees, represented BEE Day 2024 for the British High Commission in Kigali, and planned the Christmas Bazaar from 2021 to 2024 across five top hotels.

I’m passionate about education too, which is why I introduced microgreens farming to Greenhills Academy’s school programme. Last December, I launched the BEEyond Honey Collection pilot here in Kigali, creating 13 unique honey infusions.

Along the way, I wrote an ebook on the many uses of honey and a novel about the Diasporan journey—because this work is about culture, heritage, and empowering communities as much as it is about business.

My Vision

To build the leading honey-based product brand coming out of Africa — one that not only honours the richness of African apiculture but also celebrates the vibrant blend of my British and Caribbean heritage.

Through BEEyond Honey and the Alkebulan Hive, I aim to expand global awareness of apiculture, strengthen the supply chain from Africa, and create a lasting legacy of sustainable wealth and financial independence for every member of our hive.
